KWARA STATE POLICE COMMAND COLLABORATES WITH THE NIGERIAN POSTAL SERVICE.

On Wednesday, 15th May 2024, the Postal Manager, Kwara State, Mr. E. A. Bamisaye in Ilorin hosted the General Manager, Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department(Nipost), Mr. Gideon Oludotun Shonde and some of his management staff, he also facilitated a business meeting and courtesy call to the Commisioner of Police, Kwara State Command C.P. Victor Olaiya.

The General Manager Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department (NIPOST), Mr. Shonde Oludotun Gideon, after appreciating the Commissioner of Police kwara State Command, stated the reason for the visit as follows
1. To request collaboration with the Police kwara State Command for a monthly enforcement operation on the request of the association against unlicensed/ illegal Private Postal, Courier, Express, Dispatch, Delivery, and Logistics Operators in kwara State.
2. The G.M. calls the attention of the CP to the safety and security threats, issues of economic sabotage, and negative corporate image to the postal industry nationwide.
3. To work together with the Police Command and the Honourable Commissioner for transportation in the area of training and manpower development for the industry.
In response to the request by the General Manager(CLRD), the Commissioner of Police, Kwara state Command thanked the Nipost team and granted the requests. He directed that a committee be set up towards the enforcement operation immediately.
In conclusion, the president of kwara State Courier and Logistics Operators Association, Mr. Yusuf Mustapha of
W.I. Logistics, thanked the GM CLRD and appreciated the C P, kwara State, for his warm reception.
He declared that the legal/registered courier and logistics operators in kwara State are just twenty-six (26), while the illegal/ unlicensed operators are more than two hundred (200) in the state
He expressed the association's willingness and readiness to support the clampdown exercise in kwara State as the initiative will allow for a level playing field for all.
