CLRD ENFORCES REGULATIONS IN ENUGU TO SANITIZE COURIER AND LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

Enugu, Nigeria – July 3, 2025
The Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department (CLRD) of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), led by its General Manager, Mr. Gideon O. Shonde, today carried out a regulatory enforcement exercise in Enugu State. The operation, approved by the Postmaster General/CEO of NIPOST, Engr. Tola Odeyemi, focused on enforcing Section 43 of the NIPOST Act.

The visit combined public enlightenment and targeted enforcement against illegal, unlicensed, and unregistered courier and logistics operators operating in violation of federal regulations.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Shonde emphasized:
“We are here in Enugu to sanitize the postal, courier, express, and logistics industry — not to kill anybody’s business.”

Several operators found to be non-compliant were shut down. Their premises were sealed and assets confiscated to serve as exhibits in prosecution processes.

The enforcement team included CLRD officials, officers from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), armed personnel from the Enugu State Police Command, and members of the press.

This exercise reinforces CLRD’s commitment to creating a level playing field, promoting safe and reliable logistics services, and protecting the interests of licensed operators and the general public.
