 THE COURIER AND LOGISTICS ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS IS ALL ABOUT SANITY IN THE COURIER AND LOGISTICS INDUSTRY IN NIGERIA

In continuations of the first quarter clampdown that started in Lagos, on Tuesday, the 30th of April  2024, the enforcement team and clampdown campaign moved its  operation to Kano State.
 
 The operational offices of several illegal/unlicensed/ unregistered private Postal, Express, Delivery, Dispatch Courier, and Logistics companies were sealed off, and their operational equipment and vital documents were confiscated as exhibits.
 
The enforcement team, which consists of CLRD staff, Kano  enforcement team lead by the state regulatory officer, officers from the force criminal investigation department(FCID), fully armed policemen from the kano State police command, and gentlemen of the press carried out the enforcement operations in kano State. 
 
Addressing  the press  shortly after the clampdown exercise,the General Manager, Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department(CLRD), NIPOST, Mr. Gideon Oludotun Shonde, who was physically present in kano State for the exercise, declared the reasons for the arrest. 
He said they were arrested for "operating illegally and refusal to obtain a grant of operating license from the Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO as stipulated by the extant laws."
 
"It is also a crime against the state to operate in a space that is regulated without proper registration and licence," he said.
 
The GM(CLRD) also said the clampdown exercise is all about sanity in the courier and logistics industry in Nigeria. 
 
The General Manager expressed his displeasure as many Private Postal, Courier, Express, Dispatch,Delivery and Logistics Operators nationwide engaged openly in illegal courier and logistics services with reckless abandoned, without considering for ethical standards and professional practise.
 
He promised not to relent in arresting the ugly scenario by sanitizing the courier and logistics business in the country for as long as it takes.
 
The GM hinted that these quacks engage in unethical sharp practices, which include but are not limited to the following; 
 
price undercutting, broaching,
damages, 
loss and dumping of customers items, poaching and subletting of operating license with numerous public complains about customer's packages  being missing or obtaining money from customers under false pretenses, no traceable office address nor registered brand name"
 
The GM advised that "any interested private investors in the Courier and Logistics business should follow the due process by obtaining a grant of operating licenses from the federal government. (NIPOST)"
