(NIPOST) CLRD COLLABORATE WITH LICENSED COURIER AND LOGISTICS OPERATORS IN ENUGU STATE.

 (NIPOST) CLRD IS EVER POISED TO COLLABORATE WITH LICENSED COURIER AND LOGISTICS OPERATORS TO ACHIEVE THEIR ASPIRATIONS IN ENUGU STATE.

 
The above assertion was made by the GM CLRD, Mr. Dotun Shonde during the sensitization meeting held with the Association of Courier Operators in Enugu State earlier today.
This is necessary as it will serve as a wake-up call to courier and logistics operators in the State before the anticipated clampdown exercise against unregistered and unlicensed Courier and logistics operators, thereby sanitizing the industry, opined the GM CLRD. 
He intimated the gathering of the mandates of CLRD as enshrined in NIPOST Act, which includes amongst others,  regulating, licensing and monitoring of the Courier and logistics industry throughout the whole federation, and as such the department is operationally structured and professionally manned.
 
He went further to acquaint the gathering of the flexible payment plan in respect of obtaining licenses that are put in place by the department so as to assist courier operators get their licenses without breaking the bank. He concluded by assuring the operators that the hurdles being experienced by the operators from the State Government Agencies will be waddled into if the operators do the needful.
 
The SPM Enugu, Mr. Akoma Friday , in his welcome speech, heartily welcomed all to the meeting. 
He opined that the essence of the meeting as requested by the Chairperson of the Association of the Courier and logistics Operators in Enugu, Barr. Adaora Okoye is to acquaint operators on the rules and regulations guiding the industry, as ignorance is not an excuse when the proposed clampdown exercise will be carried out. 
He concluded by thanking the GM CLRD for granting the request of the Association in respect of the meeting.
 
In her submission, the AGM Legal and Compliance(CLRD), Barr. Jogai Mariam, explained in details the five (5) different categories of license operations, which are the International license, National license, Regional license, SME license and Solo Rider permit, the licensing procedures and the registration requirements for obtaining any license category. 
She emphasized the need to acquire the needed license so as to be able to achieve their aspirations.
 
In their various submissions, members of the Association of Courier operators appealed to the GM CLRD to give them time so as to do the needful. They equally asked the management of  CLRD to intervene so that the exorbitant operational levies and double taxations being demanded by the State Government will be reduced so that they won't close down their businesses, while assuring the GM that the grace period given to them is long enough for them to gather the resources and comply according, that CLRD has really made things easy for them with the flexible payment plan and they won't take such initiative for granted.
It's pertinent to note that the meeting has in attendance the GM CLRD, Mr. Dotun Shonde, the AGM Legal and Compliance, Barr. Jogai Mariam, the SPM Enugu, Mr. Akoma Friday, some unit heads in NIPOST Enugu State, the State Regulatory officer and members of the Association of Courier and logistics Operators in Enugu metropolis.
Similarly, journalists from Voice of Nigeria (VON) and the Nation Newspaper were on the ground during the public education and sensitization program in order to publicize today's official event.
